Due to my studies, I dont have much time to do anything with these pages right now, but stay tuned, coz I was at that gig, and I bootlegged it on audio! RA samples of some of the comments/songs will appear just as soon as I can get them done. Possibly a still photo too (it's bad tho :P )
I got the new Wilt song on tape (live from that gig) too.. so that'll appear sometime too.
Check out the Wilt page as I have updated that, and also the save Kerbdog page (maybe now the Kerbdog is dead page.)
Basically, I'd like to say thanx to everyone who's been chucking info my way!! I have a stack of goodies, but no time to put them online!! Damn final year dissertations!!
Normal service will resume ;)
END OF MUSIC??
KERBDOG CALL IT A DAY??? NEWS 23/12/97It has been reported by Irish radio today/yesterday that Kerbdog are set to call it a day. In what could be either a move in sheer frustration (due to the lack of support from Mercury), or just a move towards new ground (name change??) they will cease to be Kerbdog.
A gig in Cork on the 28th of December at the Crazy Horse saloon is set to be their last. Rumours of a second in January are unconfirmed, however I will update this as soon as I know for sure.
This is really sad news.. not however unexpected. The rumours started in October/November with news that Colin was returning to University in Dublin. With the news being made public on the radio in Ireland we can only hope that the 'new name' news touted recently is true.. maybe this has a bearing on the actual facts?
I will continue to keep this page running as a 'tribute' to Kilkenny's finest. Good luck to Cormac, Colin and Darragh.. And if it makes any difference then I must just say that they're making one of the biggest mistakes ever!!
And I will put up a page dedicated to your comments!!
Do E-mail you CAN make a difference!
Again thanks to Claire Breslin for the news.
NEWSFLASH!! 18/8/97!!!!
KERBDOG SIGN TO DREAMWORKS..
An unconfirmed report has stated that Kerbdog have just (with in the last 2 months) signed with Dreamworks (A subdivision of Geffen). Claire Breslin informs me...
"...Hey, and you know the way they were dropped by
Polygram/Fontana/Mercury/Whoever....well they've been signed again. Yay!
About a month or two ago, Dreamworks signed them up. "
'Cool!' is my main reaction. Hopefully a new album will follow!!
NEWS 9/5/97
KERBDOG LEAVE MERCURY!!!
Although it's unconfirmed, Kerbdog have reportedly left the Mercury fold! If this is true, who can blame them!! Mercury were marketing them poorly, and media exposure was limited, coupled with the fact that their album was first touted as an up-coming event in January 1996's Metal Hammer (due out May 1996), can you really put the blame on Kerbdogs lack of popularity upon the shoulders of the band? I think not!! Mercury just didn't know howto handle them!! And boys, if you are still with Mercury, I'd leave, personally, as that is a bum steer your riding!! Other news includes:
NO MORE SINGLES!!
A reliable source has stated that there will be no more singles from this album. This decision was made before the Mercury split rumour, so even if they are still on Mercury it stands. Cormac has been quoted as saying that material for the next album is already available - so the next one could be with us sooner... especially if they get a new deal!!
NEW MATERIAL!!
Damian (Penston) has news about the new material Kerbdog has started playing live.. here's his comments:
"......First song: "What's The Frequency Kenneth?" ????? Apart from that, almost all the songs were taken from 'On The
Turn'. I expected at least "Dry Riser", but no, they were promoting their second album only. I was disappointed to say
the least. Cormac announced that they might play in Whelans within the next three weeks, so maybe I'd have better luck
there.
I did say that almost all the other songs were taken from 'On The Turn'. They also played two new ones, the best of
which was "Mañana", introduced as "a song from our soon to be ten times platinum album". I didn't hear what the
second one was called, but I could tell that it will sound really good when recorded in studio...... "
NEWSFLASH!!!!! 8/4/97!!!!!!
MEXICAN WAVE VIDEO PREMIERS ON MTV EUROPE!!
Yes this is no joke! Finally the Mexican wave video got some airplay (if a little brief) as an Alternative option on todays (8/4) Alternative nation.
A description of the full video is impossible as the only show clips for the Alternative Option, but the good news is it was pretty cool - mainly using a 50's beach movie theme (y'know Surfers.) A guy rides in on a moped (Vespa style), and a number of girls dance around in a kind of Elvis beach movie way. There is also some Bar-b-Que action, with some guy cooking a sausage?? This is mixed with footage of Cormac and the Boys on, wait for it, some girls powder compact?!? (they are in miniature.) There wasn't a lot of actual band footage in the clip shown, it mainly had actors in 50's swimming cozzies, and the main band footage was centered on Cormac swaying back and forth like a demented man (pretty much his stage act). The actual story wasn't easy to get as they only showed 1'04 secs of the video. I think it must be an Edit version (radio edit??) as I am sure the got to the 'Hey Billy' part way sooner than the do on the album version!?!
I want to say now that we should start a campain to get Kerbdog's latest Video to win the Alternative option (which is a kind of video competition for those without MTV, where they give clips of videos and ask people to vote which was best.) Even if you don't get MTV Europe, or even MTV vote via the email thingy below and support the 'dog, and maybe, just maybe they will end up getting the credit they deserve!!!

KERBDOG GUITARIST QUITS
Finally info on Billy Daltons departure..
He left the band prior to January 18th, 1996.
it was amicable.. Billy wasn't able to cope
with the preasure etc, and left after recording 'on the turn'.
More news as and when it happens...
It seems that after Drummer Fyfe Ewing left Therapy? in early/mid 1996 (or was it '95??) Therapy? were (obviously) in need of a replacement. This came in the shape of Graham Hopkins, but here the plot thickens...
Interviewer:"How did you find out that Therapy? were looking for a drummer, did someone get in touch with you?"
As far as the U.K. scene, anybody good we should watch for? He replied..: "Yes, there's a band called Three Colors Red......[and] An Irish band called Kerbdog, they're really good. "
Maybe Ricky was listening??
Other exciting (or not) snips to follow....

They had a track on the Highlander 3 soundtrack!!
It was Dummy Crusher, album version as far as I know..
Sorry details are a bit sketch as its from memory, and the page I got it from
was in either Japanese or Korean (ie. random ascii characters with like 1 or 2
English words)..
Kerbdog had something to do with remixing some HOUSE OF PAIN material sometime
in 1996. Info goes along these lines:
"KILKENNY GUITAR-ABUSERS Kerbdog have been drafted in to remix one of the tracks
on House Of Pain’s upcoming Same As It Ever Was EP.
"The guys were given the master of ‘Running Up On Ya’ and told to basically
do anything they wanted with it," explains manager Merc Mercuriadis. "They took ‘em
at their word and more or less ditched everything apart from the vocal track. Possibly
I’m biased but with the guitars and drums added, I think it’s a far better
version than the original. I know the band are dead chuffed because it’s the first time
they’ve been asked to do this sort of thing and it’s turned out so well."
Mercuriadis - who as part of the Sanctuary Music team also looks after Bruce Dickinson
and Iron Maiden - admits that they were initially a bit reticent about getting
involved with the L.A. rappers.
"None of us are particularly keen on their politics," he admits. "I’ll always remember
Everlast going on about the IRA being ‘freedom fighters’ and when the interviewer
suggested that’s maybe how the UDA see themselves too, saying ‘who?’ I think what
attracted them to Kerbdog in the first place is that they both use the same Notre
Dame ‘fighting Irish’ logo. On a personal level, though, they’re great fun and really
nice people to deal with."
As the second most-played new act on American rock radio last year, Kerbdog have
established a core audience that Mercuriadis is confident will help take their
next album into the mainstream Billboard chart.
"Put it this way," he continues, "Kerbdog are in a better position at this stage
of their career than Iron Maiden were in theirs. They’re back in Kilkenny doing
pre-production and writing a few songs and this week Garth Richardson, the producer
who did the Rage Against The Machine album, has been over meeting the guys and
just seeing if they click. The feedback I’ve had is that they’re getting on like
a house on fire, so the plan is to start recording in Los Angeles on July 1st.
They actually wanted to stay here and do it but Garth’s daughter has a serious
illness and he can’t be away from home for too long.
"The new stuff Cormac’s writing is still very heavy but it’s perhaps a touch
more melodic which I don’t think will do them any harm."
Meanwhile, Kerbdog’s battle royale with House Of Pain emerges through XL Records
on June 19th (96??). The other tracks on the various formats of Same As It Ever
Was include ‘Over There (I Don’t Care)’, ‘Jump Around’, ‘Top O’ The Morning To Ya’
and ‘Shamrocks And Shenanigans’. "
Well actually, from what I can tell it ended up as:
Runnin' Up On Ya (House Of Pain vs. Kerbdog)
Over There (I Don't Care) (Da Beatminerz Clean Version)
Runnin' Up On Ya (LP Version)
